What We Do

Analytical Services for
Infrastructure Investment Decisions

We apply the concepts, tools, and models used in the study of regional economies to the infrastructure investment decisions that shape community growth — delivering analyses that are rigorous, objective, and decision-ready.

01

Economic & Fiscal Impact Analysis

Rigorous assessment of how infrastructure investments affect regional employment, output, income, and tax revenues — from project scoping through post-construction evaluation.

02

Economic Development Studies

Target industry analyses, driver and cluster studies, and market assessments that identify growth opportunities aligned with a community's economic base and competitive position.

03

Policy & Program Assessment

Objective evaluation of economic development programs, incentive structures, and infrastructure policies — measuring effectiveness, efficiency, and alignment with community goals.

04

Market Assessments

Data-driven analyses of labor markets, real estate conditions, supply chains, and industry competitiveness to support site selection, facility investment, and development strategy.

05

Manufacturing & Freight Policy

Specialized analyses of freight networks, supply chain economics, and manufacturing dynamics — supporting transportation infrastructure decisions and goods movement strategies.

06

Federal Grant Application Support

Economic analyses and benefit-cost assessments for competitive federal grant applications, including Reconnecting Communities, Bridge Investment Program, and RAISE grants.

Our Positioning

Where Economics
Meets Infrastructure

Public infrastructure decisions are among the most consequential and enduring choices a community makes. The analytical frameworks required to make those decisions well — regional economic modeling, fiscal impact assessment, industry cluster analysis — are specialized tools that most planning and engineering teams don't carry in-house.

DMP Development Analytics was built to fill that gap. We bring the quantitative rigor of regional economics to the infrastructure investment questions that shape communities for generations. Our analyses translate complex economic dynamics into findings that inform real decisions.

We operate as an objective, third-party analytical resource. Our conclusions are shaped by evidence, not by the preferred outcome of any project. That independence is what makes our work credible to decision-makers, grant agencies, and the communities we serve.

About the Firm

Three Decades at the Intersection

DMP Development Analytics was founded by Dean Prestegaard, an economist with more than 30 years of experience analyzing the relationship between infrastructure investment and regional economic performance. Prior to founding DMP-DA, Dean served as a Senior Economist at HDR, one of the nation's leading infrastructure-focused engineering and consulting firms.

That background — deep in the analytical methods of regional economics, and equally deep in the practical realities of large infrastructure projects — shapes how DMP-DA approaches every engagement. We understand both the economic modeling and the decision-making environments our clients navigate.

DMP-DA operates as a boutique firm by design: a limited number of active projects at any time, a commitment to primary analysis rather than recycled reports, and a direct line between the client and the economist doing the work.
